Tertiary and adult learning
Parkes Shire has a well-serviced and growing education sector offering a wide range of education and training opportunities to ensure residents can continue exploring lifelong learning pathways.
The Parkes Shire community has been instrumental in improving residents' post-secondary outcomes for residents. As a result, Parkes now has the Country Universities Centre. The CUC is a dedicated learning and study space for regional university students undertaking certificates, diplomas and university degrees. The CUC enables students to study at the university that best suits their needs without having to leave town. Within its first three years of operations, the Parkes CUC assisted over 100 students in undertaking higher education. For further information, contact the CUC directly.
Parkes Shire residents can access vocational training through the TAFE NSW Parkes College. The college is a relaxed and convenient place to study, with student services including library services, counselling, online study help, disability support, Aboriginal support, study pathways and career advice. Programs offered are relevant to the community's needs, ensuring students within the shire can gain skills and qualifications to join the local workforce. Training specialties include aged care, business, computing, children's services, foundation skills, hospitality, library information, and community services.
